Jack the dog passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. Jack was a Newfoundland/labrador mix who was adopted by Terri and Mac Newman 14 years ago. They met Jack during a pet adoption event at a pet store while they were walking in to buy birdseed and took him home that same day.

Jack brought immeasurable joy to Terri and Mac’s lives, traveling with them across the Midwest visiting friends, several lakes and rivers, and taking time with family members. Jack made a lot of furry friends along the way, and particularly loved the dog park in Chicago’s Lincoln Park.

Jack leaves behind Terri and Mac, as well as his animal sister Cherry, who is a parakeet. He was also loved deeply by his best dog pal, Twinkie, and all of the other animals at the dog park.

“We appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve received since Jack’s passing,” Terri said. “Nothing could ever fill the hole he’s left, but knowing how much he was loved has helped.”
