Dutch, the beloved dog of Allyson Fontaine, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the age of 14. A loyal companion and cherished friend, Dutch came into Allyson’s life when her friend took in a pregnant shepherd and Dutch was the smallest and most rambunctious of the babies.

Dutch quickly became her constant shadow and best friend. He had an incredible enthusiasm for life, especially when it came to his favorite activities: walking through the woods, chasing a ball and sticking his head out the car window on car rides. He also loved lying in his dog bed next to Allyson’s desk when she was working from home, and always knew when work was done for the day, when he’d head toward the leash, because he knew it was walk time.

Dutch developed lymphoma in the summer of 2024. He underwent chemotherapy but the disease was too advanced, and he passed away peacefully at home. Allyson will be holding a private memorial for Dutch at the park where they walked nearly every day. She plans to scatter his ashes in one of his favorite places.

Dutch leaves behind Allyson, as well as her best friends Tookie and Miranda. He also will be missed by his many friends at the dog park, who were always excited to see him arrive.
