Aaron and Julia Italiano are devastated to share the news that their dachshund, Lyric, passed away on January 31. She was 15.

Lyric was born in Northern Illinois and landed in a Wisconsin foster home when she was just a few weeks old. Julia immediately felt a deep bond with her as soon as they met in a park and began the adoption process, which started a relationship that changed the Italiano’s lives forever.

Lyric loved snuggling on the couch, walking on the path behind her house, begging for snacks, and greeting visitors. She especially loved meeting other small dogs and became fast friends with both animals and humans as soon as she met them.

She leaves behind her parents, Julia and Aaron; her human siblings Tae, Jude and Cara; her grandmother Anna; her aunt Callie; and several cousins. She also had a special bond with her cat sister Ariel and her dog brother Keto.

“I want people to know that Lyric was the most understanding dog of all time, and knew my thoughts and actions before I did,” Julia said. “We’ll miss her forever.”
